Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my child needs therapy?

Does your child have trouble getting their wants/needs met by using sounds and words? Does your child or adolescent have difficulty demonstrating an awareness or using social skills? It’s always great to discuss these concerns with your family doctor or a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)! Feel free to check out these important communication milestones and resources for more information.

Communication Milestones (Birth-5): ASHA & CDC

Social Communication Skills: ASHA

Individuals develop in their own unique ways and show strengths in different areas! If you have concerns about your child or young-adult’s communication skills, contact Frees Speech & Language, LLC!

If your child already receives early intervention or school-based therapy services, has an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) or Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and has been evaluated within the past 6 months-1 year (if information remains relevant), therapy can begin without a formal evaluation. Previously completed assessment information can be used to develop a current treatment plan with Frees Speech. Additional, individualized therapy through Frees Speech can supplement and support other services your child may already receive!

Frees Speech & Language Therapy, LLC typically travels to clients. We provide in-home, community-based (i.e., meeting somewhere in the community) services, or virtual teletherapy. For clients requiring over a 25 minute travel fee, there is an additional travel time fee of $25/session to account for extended commute times.

‣ Frees Speech accepts private-pay only. This is to ensure interventions can be based on your child and family’s need for frequency (not just on academic impact or number of sessions determined by school/insurance provider). Services can be provided immediately (no insurance pre-authorization needed). Collaboration and communication is frequent and ongoing. Private-pay therapy allows for the freedom and ability to provide treatment plans adapted to best-fit your child and family’s needs, and at-home/real-world generalization practice!

‣ Payment is accepted via Striple Online Payment system through the SimplePractice portal. Frees Speech accepts most debit or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, Diners Club, etc.)

‣ Flexible Spending Account (FSA) & Health Savings Account (HSA) cards accepted. Please check with your personal insurance provider to determine services are eligible for this payment method.

‣ Insurance reimbursement may be able to be provided via Superbills. Superbills are a written document of provided services that insurance companies may accept for Out-of-Network services. Please check with your personal insurance provider to determine services are eligible for this payment method.
